MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is trying to solve a hit and run case that left a 15-year-old girl seriously injured.

The accident happened just after 10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11 on State Road 40.

Troopers say the vehicle, believed to be a sport utility vehicle was headed east on SR 40. They say the teen was a runaway who was lured away by a 19-year-old she had met online.

Troopers now say they believe the vehicle was a 2018-2024 dark-colored GMC Terrain with a missing right-side mirror and might have damage to the right side.
