OCALA, FL (352today.com) – It will soon be easier to find a place to park in downtown Ocala.
Starting Tuesday, Oct. 1, two parking lots will be available for public use:
- Parking Lot 5, located on the northeast corner of Magnolia Ave. and NE First St.
- Parking Lot 9, located in the northeast corner of W. Fort King St. and SW First Ave.
The addition of these two lots will increase the volume of available spaces to 106. During October, parking in both lots will be free to the public.
Beginning Nov. 1, parking fees will be introduced for Parking Lot 9, with the cost being $0.75 an hour. Park Lot 5 will remain free.
The two lots increase the existing availability of where people will be able to park, with metered parking available in downtown Ocala at the following rates:
- South of S.R. 40: $1.25 per hour
- North of S.R. 40: $0.75 per hour
Metered parking will continue to be enforced Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Parking Garage One offers free parking and is located at 296 Broadway.
The revenue from the parking fees generates funds to support the maintenance and improvements of Ocala’s parking infrastructure. These funds also help improve the downtown area.
