FLORIDA, U.S. (352today.com) – Another day, another interesting study from personal finance service website WalletHub—though this one is far less dire than reports on Florida’s birth risks or financial distress.
It says, quite simply, that Florida is the second most “fun” state in the country.
WalletHub looked at 26 key metrics that contribute to enjoyment and quality of life, like restaurants, movie theaters, amusement parks and golf courses per capita, as well as nightlife and cultural opportunities and amenities available.
Florida topped nationwide scores in restaurants and amusement parks per capita, and also did extremely well when it comes to fitness centers for capita, variety of arts, entertainment and recreation establishments, and golf courses and country clubs.
It was important that the study incorporate and accommodate as many disparate ideas of “fun” as possible in order to come up with an even quasi-objective ranking. The analysts also took into account those “fun” activities that also help increase one’s health and quality of life.
“Living in one of the most fun states can boost your mental, physical and emotional health by giving you a wide range of activities to choose from, both indoor and outdoor,” said analyst Chip Lupo in an announcement. “These states help residents stay active and socialize, and they’re also ideal for travelers who want to make the most out of the limited amount of time that they have to explore.”
Only California topped the Sunshine State in the WalletHub report; Illinois, Nevada and New York rounded out the top five, respectively.
The least fun state in America, at least according to WalletHub? West Virginia, followed by Mississippi, Vermont, Arkansas and Delaware.
