OCALA, FL (352today.com) โ€“ Ocala is measuring up: a recent analysis of best-performing cities across the United States ranked Ocala at #36 out of 200. Kevin Sheilley, President/CEO of the Ocala Metro Chamber & Economic Partnership, broke down the metrics used to evaluate Ocalaโ€™s performance.

The study was done by the Milken Institute, an independent economic โ€œthink tankโ€ dedicating to addressing global challenges in health, finance, and public policy. The institute emphasizes balance between economic growth and well-being.

Milken divides its research between large cities and small towns so that population size doesnโ€™t skew results. Ocala is grouped with larger cities.

The Best-Performing Cities Index, published annually since 1999, evaluates a city’s effectiveness in driving economic growth while providing residents with essential services and infrastructure. Key metrics include wage growth, job creation, and housing affordability.

This yearโ€™s top cities had several common themes, including a strong job market and low income inequality. Sheilley credits Ocalaโ€™s performance to the businesses that continue to make investments in the area, boosting wages and attracting a skilled workforce.
