MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A dozen Marion County Public School children were likely a little shaken up, but state troopers say none were injured in an accident involving their school bus Thursday afternoon.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says the accident happened at the intersection of U.S. Highway 441 and Southeast 10th Avenue around 5 p.m.
Troopers say the bus was traveling north on the highway and sedan was traveling east and pulled out from a business and into the path of the bus.
“Contact was made between the left side of the school bus and the right side of the sedan,” said troopers in a news release.
FHP identified the sedan driver as a 29-year-old woman from Ocala. They say the bus was driven by a 64-year-old woman who is also from Ocala.
Troopers say no one was injured.
A spokesperson for the school district says the students were from Osceola Middle School. The children were either placed on another school bus or picked up by their parents at the scene, according to FHP.
