OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala 8-year-old who has become a local celebrity for his mullet hairstyle appears to be in good position to advance in a nationwide mullet contest.

As of Monday, the standings posted on the USA Mullet Championship website listed Jack Keuntjes in third place in the kid’s division of the competition. The rankings are based on a combination of votes and funds raised. Jack had 525 votes and a total of $5,927 in donations. Jack has raised more money than any of the other 100 remaining kid competitors.

In the end, three winners will be “crowned” (so to speak). One for each division – kids, teens, and adults.

Time is running out for you vote and donate for Jack. Round 2 ends at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31.

All donations from the competition go towards Jared Allen’s Home for Wounded Warriors.

The winners will be announced on Augusta 28. In addition to bragging rights, each will receive a championship belt, a GoPro and an undisclosed cash prize.
