OCALA, FL (352today.com) – They’ve been a collective force for three quarters of a century. The Ocala Art Group has a rich and storied history in the City of Ocala, spanning 75 years. Founded in 1950, the organization has been a powerful advocate for the arts across various media.
This month, they’re celebrating their diamond anniversary with a special art exhibit featuring works by Ocala Art Group members at the Chelsea Art Center. During the Feb. 4, 2025, Ocala City Council meeting, a presentation was made to Leona Asta, recognizing the group’s 75th anniversary, the significance of this milestone, and their lasting impact on the community.
The exhibition, themed “Wonder, Whimsy, and Wild,” showcases a diverse range of media, including paintings, photography, and 3-D artwork.
Art enthusiasts can visit the exhibit now through Feb. 28, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chelsea Art Center.
With more than 90 members, the Ocala Art Group has played a significant role in fostering artistic expression and civic pride. The organization hosts meetings, hands-on workshops, and member exhibitions, continuing to enrich the local arts scene.
