Updated to reflect the movie night takes place at Citizens’ Circle not Tuscawilla Park.

OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Ocala Electric Utility wants to show its appreciation to its customers. To do that, the utility is throwing a party – complete with a cookout and all kinds of activities.

Music will fill the air on Friday, October 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Citizens’ Circle which is just west of the Ocala City Hall on the corner of Fort King St. and Osceola Ave.

There will be family-friendly activities including the chance for kids to get a ride in the bucket of an OEU truck. “This has become a tradition at this event and allows customers to experience what it is like for the lineman who use this equipment in the field,” said Ashley Dobbs, Marketing and Communications Manager for the City of Ocala. “Plus, it’s exciting to see the view of downtown from up above.”

In addition to the bucket truck rides, there will be face painting, and a selfie-station photo booth. Dobbs says the Ocala Rec and Parks department will bring out the lawn games and have hands-on activities for the kids.

“The annual prize wheel will return again this year, providing an opportunity for families to spin-to-win monetary credits towards their municipal electric bill,” said Dobbs.

Guests will be treated to hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks for free while supplies last. “This year, OEU staff will be personally cooking the meal,” said Dobbs. The utility will also be giving out free swag.

In conjunction with Customer Appreciation Day, the Ocala Rec and Parks department will host its ‘After Dark in the Park’ movie night and showing a family favorite, Hotel Transylvania. Starting at 7:30 p.m. at Citizens’ Circle.

“This is a free event, as well, and a great way for families to spend a Friday night together,” said Dobbs. “The movie night does move to different locations throughout the year, but this was an opportunity to set up at the end of Customer Appreciation.”
