OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Plenty of kids in our community don’t want to have to think about going back to school–not in the middle of July, at the peak of summer vacation when that day isn’t a looming inevitability, but rather a vague consideration that lay somewhere beyond today’s horizon.
But some kids in our community–and their parents–have to be thinking about the first day of school right now, because they’re not sure they’re going to have what they need to greet it.
To that end, Ocala First Nazarene Church will be giving away backpacks stuffed with much-needed school supplies in efficient drive-thru fashion on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. until noon or while supplies last.
No word about donations, but we’re sure the church could always use a helping hand from local residents and businesses who would like to chip in.
