When the deputy arrived at the scene on the evening of Dec. 21, 2025, he was advised that both the victim, and the accused had left the residence, and had gone to a gas station at 8140 SE 58th Ave., Ocala. When law enforcement arrived on the scene, the victim pointed out the accused to authorities, with the deputy giving the alleged several commands to stop walking away, before the officer grabbed the defendant, escorting him to the ground.

While on the ground, the accused had his hands underneath his chest, holding an iPhone that belonged to the victim. The alleged refused to give the deputy his hands, with law enforcement activating their taser to gain control of the defendant.

The accused threatened to shoot a vehicle that was driven by the victim’s friend, who arrived at the location, to get the victim away from the situation.

The deputy made contact with the victim, who told authorities that she and the accused were arguing with one another, as he didn’t want to attend the family Christmas party. The alleged began destroying items in their shared bedroom. The victim told authorities she called her friend with the vehicle to come pick her up, as she didn’t want to be at the house. The victim then FaceTimed her best friend on her phone, and it was at that time the accused demanded her phone, took it from her and turned the phone off. The alleged became more upset and began striking the victim in the face with a closed fist and eventually started choking her to a point where she wasn’t able to breathe.

Authorities observed the victim to have swelling over both eyebrows, red and scratch marks around her neck, consistent with someone who had been choked.

The deputy spoke with the witness in the vehicle, who informed authorities the victim had contacted him to pick her up, as she was arguing with the accused. The witness told law enforcement that when got to the front door, he heard the victim yelling for help. The witness opened the front door and noticed the accused running out the back door. The witness told the deputy that the victim stated, the accused had just beat her up, at which time, he got in his truck and followed the alleged to the gas station.

Authorities spoke with the other eyewitness, who advised the deputy that she was on FaceTime with the victim, as the victim and the accused were engaged in an argument, and the alleged was demanding the victim’s phone, and when the victim attempted to call 911, the accused grabbed the phone from the victim’s hand and hung up.

The deputy spoke with the accused and read him his Miranda warning, at which time the alleged agreed to speak with law enforcement. When asked what happened, the accused said that he and the victim were arguing about him not going to the Christmas party but denied ever laying a hand on the victim. The alleged did say he did steal the victim’s phone and acknowledged he knew the victim was pregnant.

The accused was placed under arrest and taken to the Marion County Jail. The accused has no prior battery convictions.
