OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Once again, the City of Ocala has topped moving rental company U-Haul’s annual Growth Index report as the most moved-to city in the U.S. in 2025.

“U-Haul ranks metropolitan areas and cities proper by their net gain (or loss) of customers who rented a one-way truck, trailer or U-Box® moving containers in one metro or city proper and dropped off their equipment in another metro or city proper,” says the report. “Interstate and intrastate transactions are included. The U-Haul Growth Index is compiled from well over 2.5 million annual one-way transactions across the U.S. and Canada.

“While rankings may not correlate directly to population or economic growth, the U-Haul Growth Index is an effective gauge of how well states, metros and cities are attracting and maintaining residents.”

This is the third time in four years U-Haul’s data have indicated Ocala is the U.S. city with the highest influx of new residents; the city claimed the title in 2024 and 2022 as well.

Florida dominated this year’s Growth Index for cities, claiming eight of the top ten slots in the report. The U-Haul Growth Index also ranks greater metropolitan areas in the U.S. by one-way rentals. Four Florida metros–Lakeland, Palm Bay, Jacksonville and Port St. Lucie–snuck into that list’s top 20.
