OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala Police Department (OPD) says two women endangered themselves, others and two children when they were street racing.
Police arrested Jamirria Blunt and Kiara Johnson on Friday, July 5. Both are 22 years old.
Officers say the two were racing in the 3100 block of SW College Road just before 2 a.m. on Friday.
They say they were clocked going 93 mph in a 45-mph zone.
Police say Blunt was driving a Cadillac sedan and Johnson was in a Toyota sedan.
Officers say when they pulled each woman over, they discovered a child in each car. OPD says Blunt had a 15-year-old passenger in the front seat and Johnson had an 8-month-old child in a rear-facing car seat.
“Racing presents serious dangers, including increased risks of severe accidents and death,” said OPD in a post on Facebook. “We have zero tolerance for highway racing and will do everything we can to ensure that our roads are safe.”
Both women spent the night in the Marion County jail and bonded out on Saturday evening. They have a court date set for August 6.
