OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala Police Department (OPD) has made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting at the Burger King on E. Silver Springs Boulevard.

OPD says a detective arrested 21-year-old David Smith III in connection with the November 3 murder outside the fast-food restaurant.

Police say 28-year-old Jose Valliant died in the shooting.

They say the deadly shooting was a “drug deal gone wrong.”

OPD says Smith was already in jail for various felony charges at the time of this arrest.

A check of Marion County jail records shows Smith is currently facing 24 criminal charges ranging from drug trafficking, drug possession and now a murder charge.

For that, he’s scheduled to appear in court on January 23.

Two others were previously arrested in connection with this case on charges of tampering with evidence.

Police arrested Kevin Coleman, 29, and Tulana Joshua, 33, on charges of tampering with evidence in connection to the deadly shooting.
