OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala Police Department (OPD) says officers responded to a shooting Monday evening that led to a chase and crash.
On March 18 around 6:45 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of SW 5th Street and SW 27th Avenue regarding a shooting. Police say the shooting happened near the Speedway gas station in the 100 block of SW 27th Ave.
OPD says when they got on scene a suspect took off, leading an officer on a more than two-mile pursuit. Police say the suspect eventually crashed at the Wawa located at 1010 S Pine Ave.
The police department took the driver into custody and detectives are still investigating the shooting.
