OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Ocala police say a drug deal that went wrong led to the death of a 21-year-old man in Ocala over the weekend.

Officers say they arrested 20-year-old Jaden Burton and 23-year-old Kamrun Goffe on charges of murder for their involvement in a shooting that left 21-year-old Patrick Stanley Jr. dead.

OPD says they responded to the 2200 block of SW 2nd St. to reports of a shooting and found Stanley had been shot in his leg. Stanley was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

After further investigation, detectives say evidence revealed that two individuals who were later identified as Burton and Goffe were in two separate vehicles, a blue Toyota Camry and a gray Hyundai Elantra that were involved in the shooting. OPD says they were able to link Burton and Goffe to the shooting through video footage and witnesses.

They say it all happened over a drug deal. Police say Burton and Goffe were selling Stanley marijuana. They say Stanley tried to steal the pot and was shot in his leg as he tried to run away. It is not known as to whether Stanley had a gun or not.

“Our hearts go out to the loved ones of Mr. Stanley Jr. during this difficult time,” said OPD in a Facebook post.
