OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala Public Library is hosting a ‘mobile learning adventure’ for children this month.
The PNC Bank Mobile Learning Adventure (MLA) will be held on Friday, Nov.17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library is located at 2720 E. Silver Springs Blvd.
The event is for children birth to age five with caregivers to allow them to learn more about the importance of early childhood education all while doing fun activities with their children.
There will be four different stations around the library that you’ll use a passport booklet to guide you through.
Stations
Making Choices Disc Run: Allows parents and caregivers to teach their children about “wants” vs. “needs” when it comes to making a financial related decision.
When I Grow Up Photo Station: Children can dress up as the profession of their choice. Some of the costumes include astronaut, athlete, ballerina, doctor, firefighter, teacher, and more.
Craft Area: Children can use a stencil with a variety of shapes to draw.
Story Telling Tree: Encourages conversation between the parent and child. Children will answer a prompt by writing on a leaf and attaching it to the story telling tree. For example: “When I grow up, I want to be _____ because_____.”
Children will receive an achievement badge sticker for each activity they complete for pages in their passport. At the end of the adventure, parents and caregivers will also receive brochures, crayons, and free tote bag.
Marion County says this is all a part of PNC Bank’s “Grow Up Great” program.
“This $500-million, multi-year bilingual initiative began in 2004 to prepare children for success in school and life, before they even enter kindergarten,” said the county in a news release.
