OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) crews responded to a fire at a home Thursday night.

It happened in the 2600 block of NE 1st Ave. around 11:30 p.m.

OFR says they dispatched multiple crews after a concerned neighbor alerted them to flames visible at the house.

On the scene, firefighters say they found a one-story residence engulfed in flames with fire burning through the roof.

OFR says they immediately began fighting the fire from outside.

“Despite efforts to make an interior attack, deteriorating fire conditions forced a withdrawal after a powerline affected by the fire fell, preventing access to the water supply,” said OFR in a news release. “The fire was aggressively fought from the outside until it was under control.”

Once they could get into the house, first responders say they found a woman dead inside.

We don’t know the identity of the woman at this time.

OFR says the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
