OCKLAWAHA, FL (352today.com) – Most family quarrels don’t involve a shotgun.

However, this past weekend on Sept. 27, 2025, at a residence in Ocklawaha, an all-da, argument, refusing to fix a vehicle, demeaning comments and less-than-pleasant demeanors led to one of the occupants of the dwelling, Edward Graden Bradley, 67, with being charged with seven felony counts: five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill; one count of cruelty toward a child, abuse of a child without great bodily harm; weapon offense use, display of a weapon during a felony while under indictment and a misdemeanor charge of a weapon offense, exhibiting a firearm or dangerous weapon. The accused is being held at the Marion County Jail on $80,000 bond.

A Terrifying Scenario

At 9.59 p.m. on Sept. 27, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call, a disturbance involving a firearm. Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, one of the victims advised the responding deputy, that the accused was inside of the dwelling and was in possession of a shotgun and had another resident of the home with him.

The victim also made law enforcement aware that the accused had fired his shotgun and had pointed the firearm at each one of the victims, threatening them, a story corroborated by all of the victims, with the exception of one, who was too traumatized to talk.

The accused had then locked himself in the room, turning the shotgun on himself, threatening to kill himself due to the urgency and darkness. It’s unclear which victim made that statement to authorities, as they were advised by MCSO to evacuate the immediate area because of the threat of danger.

MCSO made contact with the victim, who told authorities that they had been arguing all day about fixing a vehicle. The accused told the victims he wouldn’t help them with fixing the vehicle again. It was then he grabbed a shotgun, pointed it at the victim, with those in the dwelling running away from the accused, hearing a gun shot, but no one was struck.

The other victims told the MCSO Sgt. that he emerged from his room with the brown shotgun, pointed it at them, and told them he could shoot them, and that they should leave the house. The victims then left the residence, with one subject staying in the residence with the accused.

Authorities made contact with the accused and, after Miranda warnings, he stated he was arguing with the victim about fixing a car, and that victim was antagonizing and making fun of him, causing him to lose control, grabbing his shotgun and telling the victim to get out. The accused then told authorities he slipped, causing the shotgun to discharge. He further stated that he then exited the room with the shotgun., telling the victims to leave the residence.

There was evidence at the scene that a shotgun had been discharged at the residence. The weapon was collected as evidence. The victims and the accused live as a family unit at the incident location.

The accused was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.
