UMATILLA, FL (352today.com) – A 51-year-old woman from Ocklawaha died Saturday night after her SUV crashed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
FHP says that the crash happened around 10:36 p.m. on May 31 at the intersection of County Road 450 and County Road 42 in Umatilla.
Troopers say the woman was driving north on CR 450 when, for unknown reasons, she failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign. Her SUV continued through the intersection, veered off the road onto the north shoulder of CR 42, and struck an amber warning sign before hitting a tree.
The driver was taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
FHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
