OCALA, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE, 6/3/2024: The Ocala Police Department has released more information about a deadly early morning wreck on Southwest College Road.
Police say the accident happened around 1:30 a.m. when the driver of an Audi car was headed westbound on Southwest State Road (SR) 200, also known as College Road, and attempting to turn left to travel eastbound on Southwest 17th Street.
OPD says a Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the inside lane of SW SR 200 entering the intersection of Southwest 17th Street.
Police say the Audi driver turned into the path of the motorcycle which had the right of way. The front of the motorcycle struck the right front corner of the Audi car.
Investigators say speed did not appear to be a factor and the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet.
The motorcyclist has been identified as an 18-year-old from Dunnellon.
Police say the Audi driver was transported to the hospital and there were no signs of impairment.

Police say the crash happened at the intersection of Southwest College Road and Southwest 17th Street.
A post on the department’s Facebook page indicates the crash happened early Sunday morning.
Police expect the intersection to be closed for several hours and ask that you avoid the area.
