OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala Police Department (OPD) says the man accused of killing a man and injuring a woman in a shooting at Paddock Mall two days before Christmas was indicted on murder charges.

OPD says a grand jury indicted Albert J. Shell Jr. on the following charges:

  • premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm
  • two counts of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm
  • possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

The police department says the shooting that killed 40-year-old David Barron also left two people injured, not just one as originally reported.

“Initially, we reported that one woman was injured with a gunshot wound and taken to the hospital for treatment. However, the investigation revealed that a second individual was also grazed by a stray bullet, though fortunately, his injury was minor, and he did not go to the hospital,” shared OPD in a Facebook post.

Police say they served Shell the arrest warrant at the Marion County Jail where he remains in custody without bond.
