OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala Police Department has issued a car theft advisory to local Kia and Hyundai drivers.
Ocala police have recently noticed an uptick in auto theft incidents involving Kia and Hyundai vehicles. They suspect this is due to a vulnerability in the cars’ ignition systems which enables thieves to start the engine with a USB device or other cord.
Drivers are advised to lock all car doors when leaving a Kia or Hyundai vehicle unattended. Additionally, community members are encouraged to keep an eye out and report suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
