OCALA, FL (352today.com) – For many high school students, prom and awards ceremonies are unforgettable milestones. However, the cost of formal attire can be a barrier for some, preventing them from enjoying these special occasions. Fortunately, Marion County residents have an opportunity to change that.

Through the Pay It Forward for Prom initiative, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is collecting lightly used prom dresses, sport coats, ties, and dress shoes to help local teens attend their big night in style. Community Outreach Coordinator Greg Pruitt is leading the effort, encouraging residents to donate items that can make a lasting impact on a student’s high school experience.

“This community has always had a big heart when it comes to helping others,” said Pruitt. “By donating gently used formalwear, you’re giving a student the chance to create lifelong memories.”

If you have formalwear to donate or are a student in need of assistance, you can contact gpruitt@marionso.com to arrange a donation or schedule an appointment.
