A 73-year-old Ocala man was fatally struck by a pickup truck while walking in the roadway on State Road 40 late Tuesday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A crash late Tuesday night left a 73-year-old Ocala man dead after he was struck by a pickup truck on State Road 40, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The wreck happened around 11:45 p.m. near NW 41st Avenue. Authorities say a 42-year-old Ocala man was driving east in the left lane when his vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was walking in an unknown direction within the inside eastbound lane.

The driver reportedly did not see the man before impact. Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.
FHP continues to investigate the incident, and no further details have been released at this time.
