OCALA, FL (352today.com) – If lights were candy, thousands of people would be waking up with a stomachache Sunday morning.
The annual Light Up Ocala is a feast for the eyes. Thousands of kids and adults indulged their senses Saturday as downtown Ocala’s multi-faceted festival kicked off the holiday season.
The Junior Sunshine parade featured children twirling, dancing and marching. Santa brought up the rear. Afterwards, he and Mrs. Claus took their place at Citizens’ Circle where they listened to children’s Christmas lists of wishes for hours.
Outgoing Ocala Mayor Kent Guinn’s family – son Cameron, granddaughter Edie, and daughter-in-law Haley – flipped the switch to light the city’s Christmas tree.
Festival-goers danced to music performed by the band Audio Exchange until the holiday party wound down around 9 p.m.
As of this writing, there are just 36 days until Christmas.
