OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A 70-year-old man died following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening, July 17, at the intersection of State Road 200 and SW 103rd Street Road in Ocala.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 52-year-old Ocala man driving a pickup truck was headed east on SR 200 around 7:24 p.m. when he failed to stop for a steady red light. His truck hit the passenger side of a westbound sedan driven by a 70-year-old Ocala woman who was attempting to turn left onto SW 103rd Street Road.
The pickup came to rest facing east on the southeast corner of the intersection, while the sedan stopped facing south in the same area.
The sedan’s 70-year-old male passenger was taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m. FHP said all three people involved were wearing seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation.
