OCALA, FL. (352 Today) – A precautionary boil water notice is in effect for customers in the Lakeview Hills area after Marion County Utilities completed emergency water main repairs that temporarily affected system pressure.
The advisory, which includes Lake Weir High School, was issued to ensure public safety as testing is conducted in compliance with Florida Department of Environmental Protection regulations. Though water pressure has been restored, the utility urges residents to boil water intended for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth for at least one minute at a rolling boil until the notice is lifted.
Water used for showering, bathing, or laundry does not require boiling, according to utility guidelines.
Marion County Utilities is notifying affected customers through email, automated calls, social media updates, and local media outreach. Customers are encouraged to contact customer service at 352-307-6000 during regular business hours to confirm their contact information is up to date for future alerts.
Annual water quality reports, which detail inspections conducted by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, are available online at Utilities.MarionFL.org under the “My Water” tab. Reports from 2012 to 2023 are accessible by the name of each water treatment facility.
Officials will lift the boil water notice once water samples confirm the system is safe for normal consumption.
