MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE: As of Thursday, Sept. 14, 1:30 p.m. Marion County Utilities (MCU) lifted the boil water order for the Salt Springs community. MCU says a bacteriological survey was completed and the results show the water is safe to drink.

ORIGINAL: Marion County Utilities has issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers within the Salt Springs community.

They say the reason for the order is due to a temporary loss of water pressure.

The utility says Salt Springs community customers are advised to bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute until this precautionary notice is lifted. As an alternative, bottled water may be used for these purposes, which include drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth.

They say water used for laundry, bathing, and/or showering does not need to be boiled.

Utilities will perform water testing per regulations from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and will advise the impacted customers once this boil water notice is lifted.
