MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE: Marion County Utilities (MCU) has lifted the precautionary boil water notice for customers within the Bluefields, Delcrest, Fort King Forest, Hi Cliff, Regency Estates, Sleepy Hollow communities.

MCU says a bacteriological survey has been completed and that the water is safe to drink.

ORIGINAL 10/26: Marion County Utilities (MCU) has issued a boil water notice as a precaution for people living in a half dozen neighborhoods.

MCU says the precautionary measure is due a temporary loss of pressure.

The advisory is for MCU customers living in the following communities:

  • Fort King Forest
  • Hi Cliff
  • Sleepy Hollow
  • Delcrest
  • Bluefields
  • Regency Estates

Customers living in these neighborhoods are advised to bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute until this precautionary notice is lifted.

As an alternative, bottled water may be used for these purposes, which include drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth.

Water used for laundry, bathing, and/or showering does not need to be boiled.MCU says it will perform water testing in compliance with regulations from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and will advise the impacted customers once this boil water notice is lifted.
