OCALA, FL. (352Today) – Meet Hickory Smoked Bacon, the type of pup that, just like bacon, you can’t get enough of. This 5-year-old is waiting for his forever family with a happy heart and a wagging tail at the Humane Society of Marion County.

Hickory Smoked Bacon, or HSB for short, is the happiest pup who has overcome the biggest of obstacles. Since being picked up as a stray, HSB has been given medicated baths for his flea dermatitis. The HSMC staff celebrate that after only three weeks of treatment, his pink bald spots have been covered by his soft, healthy golden fur. Despite his skin’s discomfort, Hickory Smoked Bacon is unconditionally happy. HSB’s tail wags make it difficult for his hair to grow on certain areas, but the hairless patches left are evidence of a very gleeful pup.

The staff at the Humane Society of Marion County believe Hickory Smoked Bacon is a pure, or close to, Labrador Retriever. HSB is 88 pounds of pure love. His playful personality and loving nature make him a perfect fit for a home with kids and a fenced yard. HSB gets along great with other dogs, likes car rides, and even picks up his leash to walk himself.

If you’re hungry to adopt this big ball of energy wrapped in the soft fur of a cuddle bug, visit the Humane Society of Marion County. Located at 701 NW 14th Road in Ocala, you can see Hickory Smoked Bacon and all their adoptable pets from Monday to Saturday, 10a.m.-6p.m.
