ORIGINAL STORY, DEC. 18: Marion County Utilities (MCU) says it will be replacing pipe serving residents of Rainbow Lakes Estates in Dunnellon. That work is prompting a precautionary boil water notice for people who live there starting Tuesday, Dec. 19.
MCU says customers within the Rainbow Lakes Estates community are advised to bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute until the precautionary notice is lifted. As an alternative, bottled water may be used for these purposes, which include drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth.
The utility says water used for laundry, bathing and showering does not need to be boiled.
