OCALA, FL (352today.com) — The Ocala Marion Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) has launched the Safety Matters Initiative: Stop on Red, a community-driven effort aimed at improving roadway safety across Marion County.
Melissa Wandall, president of the National Coalition for Safer Roads, is delivering a powerful message through the initiative, reminding drivers of the life-saving importance of obeying traffic signals and always stopping on red.
The initiative is supported by a coalition of local and state agencies, including the Dunnellon Police Department, City of Ocala Government, Florida Highway Patrol Marion County, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Transportation, Ocala Fire Rescue, Ocala Police Department, and the City of Belleview.
Residents are encouraged to stay engaged with the Safety Matters Series by following updates on social media and joining the movement to promote safer streets.
