MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 50-year-old Silver Springs man died Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle crash along a forest road in eastern Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The single-vehicle crash happened around 3:41 p.m. on July 31, about 1.18 miles south of National Forest Road 22 on National Forest Road 5.
Troopers say the man was heading southbound when he lost control of his motorcycle. The bike overturned and came to a rest on top of the driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue.
FHP confirmed the man was wearing a helmet. His name has not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
