MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) — A new chapter is beginning for families in Silver Springs Shores.

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners has officially named the area’s newest library the Silver Springs Shores Public Library, a decision made during a unanimous vote on May 20.

Set to open this fall, the branch will be located at 590 Silver Road, Ocala, currently home to the Silver Springs Shores Youth Center.

Earlier this year, residents were invited to take part in the naming process by submitting suggestions. After reviewing community feedback, county leaders narrowed it down to two options before selecting the name that reflects the neighborhood’s identity.

“We deeply appreciate the invaluable support from the county commission, the Silver Springs Shores MSTU, the Marion County Community Services, and Marion County Facilities Management,” said Julie Sieg, Marion County Public Library System director. “With this collaboration, we are excited to enhance the quality of life for residents in Silver Springs Shores and the surrounding community. Together, we are committed to delivering exceptional services that truly make a difference.”

The project is being funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, with renovations overseen by Marion County Facilities Management and design work by Architecture Studios, Inc.

Once completed, the new library is expected to provide expanded access to books, educational programs, technology, and resources for families in one of the county’s fastest-growing communities.
