OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Since April 2, a handsome pup named Butch has been waiting patiently at Marion County Animal Services (MCAS) for his next chapter to begin.
Butch came into the shelter under heartbreaking circumstances. His owner passed away, leaving him without the only family he had ever known. But through it all, Butch has shown just how resilient, loving, and full of life he really is.
At 3 years old, Butch is past the high-energy chaos of the puppy stage, but still young enough to enjoy plenty of play. MCAS staff say he’s the best of both worlds: fun-loving and playful when it’s time for an adventure, but also calm and content to relax by your side.
Well-socialized and affectionate, Butch is the kind of dog who has never met a stranger. He’s eager to greet new people with a wagging tail and a friendly shake (especially if you have a treat in hand). He gets along well with other dogs and quickly became a favorite among staff for his easygoing yet expressive personality.
One of Butch’s favorite things? Water! Whether he’s splashing in a kiddie pool or dock diving, he would love to take field trips to any body of water to cool off.

More than anything, Butch is ready for his next family. If you’re looking for a loyal, adaptable, well-mannered dog who’s ready to be your new best friend, stop by the MCAS shelter to meet Butch. The shelter is located at 5701 SE 66th Street in Ocala and is open from 10 AM to 5 PM Tuesday through Saturday. MCAS is collecting school supplies before the start of the school year and will waive your adoption fee for a contribution of supplies.
