OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Get ready to step back in time and experience the Florida of yesteryear at the 2024 Ocali Country Days Festival. This two-day event, taking place on November 9th and 10th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history and culture of the region.

For just $10 per person (children 5 and under are free), visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including live music, historical displays, unique crafts, and delicious food.  The admission fee helps fund the annual celebration and education programs at the Silver River Museum,

“Now in its 13th year, this ‘pioneer lifestyle’ experience puts visitors in the middle of crafters demonstrating old-time skills that become more rare with each passing year,” says Kevin Christian, Director of Public Relations for Marion County Public Schools.

One of the highlights of the festival is the Living History exhibits, which showcase life during the 1800s. Visitors can tour pioneer cabins, watch craftsmen demonstrate traditional skills, and even see how sugar cane syrup is made. A tram ride through the state park and a tour of the Silver River Museum are also available.

You can even learn how to make sugar cane syrup or ride in an authentic 19th-century 80-gallon cast iron kettle, Christian shares.

You can watch a real-life blacksmith at work on a Civil War-era cannon,” he adds. “With plenty of unique food and handmade items for sale, there’s plenty to experience for visitors of all ages.”
