SUMTER COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Sumter County’s Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is asking for help identifying individuals they say are involved in burglaries at a gas station in Sumterville.

Deputies say during the early morning hours of March 17, 2024, two individuals approached the BP gas station located on U.S. Highway 301 and County Road 370 about three miles east of Interstate 75 in Sumterville. They say the individuals wore masks, white gloves, and black hoodies/jackets. They believe the thieves are a man and a woman.

The sheriff’s office says surveillance footage shows a man using a black and red hammer to break the top padlock off a door to gain entry to the store.

Deputies say both individuals were then seen grabbing multiple, disposable vapes from a display shelf before leaving the store.

SCSO says the woman was holding a red “Orlando Health” drawstring backpack.

SCSO says another incident occurred on March 8, 2024, around 2:15 a.m. at the BP gas station. They say an individual entered the gas station wearing a mask, black hoodie with the hood up, white gloves on both hands, grey sweatpants, and a silver clip hanging on his right-side pocket. They say the individual also wore black shoes with red accents.

The sheriff’s office says this individual was also carrying a black and red hammer.

According to deputies, the individual approached the door and begin hit the bottom lock with the hammer. They say afterwards, he went to the register area where a display case of vapes was located. He then put the vapes in his clothes, left the store, and walked to the woods.
