SUMTER COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Aurora, a four-year-old shelter dog with Sumter County Animal Services (SCAS), is in desperate need of an emergency foster to qualify for special surgery funding.
Aurora is suffering with a dislocated hip, and a special surgery called a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) will improve her quality of life. SCAS says Aurora can receive funding from the University of Florida (UF) to pay for the entirety of the surgery and recovery process, but she has to be registered with a foster first.
Aurora has been isolated in the shelter since April. Due to her injury, she can’t be adopted yet, but she can be fostered right away. SCAS wants to find her a foster so she can receive care urgently.
SCAS says Aurora has a big personality. She is friendly with humans and playful with other dogs, too. She loves attention, scratches and playing in the pool.
“She’s a big puppy at heart,” said Sarah Bessler, a veterinary technician with Sumter County Animal Services.
