SUMTER COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – With the Super Bowl just around the corner, Sumter County Animal Services is hoping to tie-in to the big NFL game and catch the attention of anyone considering adding a pet to their family.
Sumter County Animal Services (SCAS) is holding its first-ever AdoptaBowl adoption event from February 7-12. The adoption event kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 7, with an AdoptaBowl football-themed party at The Villages Sumter County Service Center at 7375 Powell Rd. in Wildwood, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
SCAS plans to have some of the dogs dressed appropriately for the big football game in hopes of helping them score a forever home.
As of this publication, the SCAS website indicates shelter is over capacity with more than 100 dogs and roughly 60 cats available.
SCAS says the best part about the event is the adoptions are FREE.
“If you’re not able or unsure about adopting a dog, please consider fostering a dog,” said the shelter in a news release. “Fostering a dog, even for just a weekend, goes a long way to helping the dog’s mental well-being and making them more adoptable. It also gives you the pleasure and satisfaction of having a pet around and knowing that you’re helping them.”
SCAS is open Thursday to Monday, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. It is currently closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, except for adoption-only appointments to allow the shelter staff time to work with the animals. The shelter is located at 819 CR 529, Lake Panasoffkee.
