GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – It’s a battle in the Sunshine State as Gators men’s and women’s basketball teams host the Seminoles for a doubleheader Friday.
At 4 p.m., the women’s team will take on the Noles, followed by the men’s team at 7 p.m. at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center (the O’Dome).
The women’s team is looking to continue their undefeated streak, holding a record of 3-0.
It’ll be a slight challenge against the Seminoles who are 2-0 and ranked No. 12. FSU is also coming off a close win defeating Tennessee, 92-91.
According to the women’s basketball program, it’s the first ranked matchup for the Gators. Florida’s momentum is also high with their strong win over FAMU, 92-54. Gators lead the all-time series 42-34, but the Seminoles won their last matchup in Tallahassee 92-77, according to the program.

Last year, when the two faced off in Tallahassee, it was marked as one of the Gators largest road game comebacks in history, ultimately leaving with a 76-67 victory over the Seminoles.
It’s no secret that this is a notable matchup and Gators head coach Todd Golden says he is completely aware of that.
“They’re bigger, they’re unique, they’re definitely long, athletic, and they’re much better this year than they were last year. They’re playing really well,” said Golden in a press conference Thursday.
He added that FSU’s team is a lot more connected this year than they were last year and that it’s going to be a good challenge for them.
