LADY LAKE, FL (352today.com) – The Lady Lake Police Department has charged a man with attempted murder and aggravated battery following a stabbing that occurred Friday evening near Veterans Memorial Park in The Villages.

On Saturday, March 7, 2026, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office notified the Lady Lake Department of a stabbing victim facing life-threatening injuries being treated at UF Health Spanish Plaines in Sumter County. He was later airlifted to UF Health Shands in Gainesville where he underwent surgery and survived. Investigators determined the incident occurred in a parking lot near Veterans Memorial Park on Paige Place in Lady Lake (The Villages) at around 8 p.m.

According to investigators, the altercation involved the victim, a 39-year-old male, and the suspect, William Tyler Warren, 42, and reportedly stemmed from a dispute involving a female acquaintance.

The 37-year-old female involved was not initially located but was later contacted and is cooperating with authorities. She was arrested on a warrant out of Georgia.

Warren, who had recently moved with the female to Lady Lake from Georgia to the 700 block of Turnberry Lane in Orange Blossom Gardens, was detained by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Marion County Jail. Lady Lake detectives interviewed Warren at the jail, where he admitted his involvement in the incident.

Warren is facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery.

“This was a violent incident that left the victim with serious injuries,” said Lady Lake Police Chief Steve Hunt. “Our officers and detectives moved quickly to investigate the case and worked with our law enforcement partners to locate the suspect. We are committed to holding those responsible for violent crimes accountable and ensuring the safety of our community.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
