OCALA, FL (352today.com) – This weekend is the perfect time for an evening walking tour of Ocala’s historic district. The Historic Ocala Preservation Society (HOPS) recently announced the winners of its annual holiday decorating contest.

The honor for ‘Best House’ was shared by homeowners of 1213 SE Third St. and 839 SE Fifth St. with 519 SE Sanchez coming in a close second. Organizers say 1213 SE Third St. ultimately won via tiebreaker vote.

Title of ‘Best Porch’ went to 519 SE Sanchez with 727 SE Third St. coming in second. The ‘Best Door’ award went to 1126 SE Fifth St.

In the Tuscawilla Park Historic District, two homes were “over the top” and were right next to each other. They were voted on as if the two were collectively decorated, according to HOPS board member Matthew Grow.  The side-by-side stunners are located at 732 and 722 NE Second St.
