MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) and other local agencies are ready to help when Hurricane Helene hits North Central Florida.

This morning, MCFR says that the Florida Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Force 8 was sent out to assist with Hurricane Helene. The 28-member team left Marion County Fire Rescue Operations and headed to Cecil Field in Jacksonville.

MCFR says that the task force will work alongside the Army National Guard for Helicopter Search and Rescue missions, equipped for Swift Water Rescue. The task force has brought four boats and 13 vehicles to carry out water rescues, search and rescue missions, and assess structural damage.

FL USAR Task Force 8 includes Technical Rescue Specialists from Marion County Fire Rescue, Gainesville Fire Rescue, and Ocala Fire Rescue.

MCFR states that it will share updates on their progress.
