MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 17-year-old Marion County resident was arrested shortly after midnight June 16 after deputies served a juvenile capias warrant related to a battery charge stemming from a domestic disturbance investigation earlier this month.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Berry, 17, was taken into custody at a residence in Marion County at approximately 12:16 a.m. Deputies arrested Berry on a no-bond juvenile capias warrant signed June 16. The warrant stems from a June 9 domestic disturbance investigation.

Deputies responded to a Marion County residence after receiving a report of a physical altercation. The alleged victim told deputies that Berry struck her in the face during an argument. Deputies reported observing redness and swelling on the right side of her face that they said was consistent with her account.

Investigators also reviewed cellphone video recordings provided by those involved in the incident. According to the report, Berry denied striking the victim and told deputies she had threatened him and his girlfriend during the dispute. The report states deputies reviewed additional video evidence submitted by the victim before determining probable cause existed for a battery charge.

Berry was arrested on one count of misdemeanor battery, and he had no prior battery convictions.
