OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Arc Marion has been selected to receive a $20,000 subgrant through The Arc of the United States’ Inclusive Digital Literacy Project, funded by AT&T, to expand access to digital literacy training for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) throughout Marion County.
As part of the initiative, The Arc Marion will participate in Train-the-Trainer sessions using AT&T’s Digital Literacy curriculum and supplemental accessible materials. These training courses will prepare staff to deliver both in-person and virtual digital literacy instruction, with a goal of reaching at least 250 individuals with IDD during the project period.
“This opportunity allows us to break down digital barriers and empower individuals with disabilities to confidently navigate technology,” said Rhonda Kincaid, Community Coordinator for The Arc Marion. “Digital skills are no longer optional—they are essential for independence, employment, education, and connection.”
Grant funding will support accessible technology purchases such as tablets and adaptive devices, program materials, and community outreach. The Arc Marion will also collaborate with local partners including self-advocacy groups, vocational programs, and disability organizations to expand the reach and impact of the training.
This project is part of a nationwide effort led by The Arc of the United States, in collaboration with The Arc San Francisco, The Arc of Florida & The Arc Marion to ensure digital inclusion for people with disabilities through education, accessibility, and community engagement.
