OCALA, FL (352Today.com) – When Ocala native Keeley Plunkett and her husband Sean couldn’t find an open pickleball court or escape Florida’s summer heat they decided to do something about it. The result is The Dink Tank, Ocala’s first indoor pickleball facility designed to bring players together rain or shine, day or night.
“We saw a huge need for indoor pickleball in Ocala,” said Keeley. “Every time we went out to play, the outdoor courts were packed, and we’d end up waiting. We wanted to create a place where you can play on demand somewhere that also serves as a community hub for meeting new people and improving your game.”
The idea came naturally once the couple realized there wasn’t a single indoor facility in town. “We explored a few other business ideas, but nothing felt right until we discovered pickleball,” Keeley said. “Once we realized there was this gap in Ocala, we knew this was it.”
What’s in a name
For anyone wondering about the catchy name, Keeley laughs recalling the moment of inspiration. “We were brainstorming one night, playing off pickleball terms. A ‘dink’ is a soft, controlled shot near the kitchen line and we wanted something that also sounded creative and training-focused, like a think tank. At the exact same time, we both said, ‘Dink Tank.’ We just looked at each other and knew that was the one.”
More than a game
Located at 1892 SW 12th Avenue in downtown Ocala The Dink Tank is more than just a place to play. With four pro-grade CushionX courts the same surface used on the PPA Tour and professional lighting, the facility provides the feel of outdoor play without the humidity or rain delays. Each court features private seating areas, premium nets, and plenty of room to relax between games.
“We’ve built this for everyone from first timers to competitive players,” Keeley said. “Our goal is to make sure every player, no matter their level, walks away with a great experience and a smile.”
The Dink Tank offers leagues, lessons, clinics, and tournaments year-round, with both open play and membership options. And it’s open 24/7. “We know everyone’s schedule looks different,” Keeley explained. “Whether you’re coming off a night shift, sneaking in a morning match before work, or playing on the weekend, you’ll always have a place here.”
Building a community through play
For Keeley and Sean, this venture is about more than sports–it’s about connection. “Ocala needed more spaces where adults can stay active and connect locally,” Keeley said. “When people are active, they’re happier, and pickleball brings people together in such a positive way.”
The couple also sees the facility becoming a gathering place for local schools, senior communities, and businesses. “We’d love to host team-building events, rec programs, even birthday parties. It’s about creating something inclusive that truly belongs to the community.”
Serious pickleball, serious fun
What started as a dream has turned into a space where competition and community meet. “Our motto says it all,” Keeley said with a smile. “It’s your game, your people, your court. We’re just here to provide the best technology, surfacing, and experience to help you play your best.”
