INVERNESS, FL (352today.com) – The Roller Barn, a beloved roller-skating rink and community hangout in Inverness, will permanently close at the end of 2025, its owners announced.
In a statement shared on social media and with local residents, the Dean family said the rink’s final day of operation will be Dec. 31. The family described the decision as coming with a “bittersweet heart” and thanked generations of patrons for their support.
Since opening in 1983, the Roller Barn has offered open skate sessions, lessons, party space and events for families, children and skating enthusiasts in Citrus County and beyond. The facility at 1740 Highway 41 N. has been a site for birthday parties, Friday-night skates and community gatherings for more than 40 years.
The closing marks the end of an era for one of the region’s few remaining indoor roller rinks. Skaters and families will still be able to use the rink through the end of the year.
“The Roller Barn has always been about community,” stated the Dean family. “And that is something that will never fade.”
