McINTOSH, FL (352today.com) – The cool and breezy weather today, Saturday, Oct. 14, was ideal for celebrating half a century of the McIntosh 1890s Festival. Guests spent the morning wandering the extensive aisles of festival booths, enjoying the Victorian-era architecture and dancing to jaunty, live music.

The annual festival is always a hit, and this year was no exception. Cars lined up miles away to funnel into the tiny town of 450.

Some guests paid $20 parking fees to support local 4-H students and gain easy access to the festival. Others chose to park along the side of US 441 near Orange Lake and make the long trek to Avenue G, where the festival booths begin.

Either way, visitors still had to fight the foot traffic once they got in. Like every year, the streets were crowded with thousands of guests milling past vibrant booths and pausing to peruse their unique wares.

Just above the sea of faces were rows of beautiful Victorian-era homes canopied by sprawling oak trees. It’s easy to imagine how peaceful the sleepy town of McIntosh usually is – but this year’s lively 1890s festival was anything but sleepy.

Live musicians played everything from guitars to fiddles to washboards. Listen here.
