SUMTER COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Sumter County residents are going to see a lot of detour signs in one part of the county starting next week.

Get used to it… the inconvenience is going to last for roughly two months.

Starting Monday, April 29, Sumter County says county road C-462 from CR 209 to U.S. 301 will be closed.

The county says the road closure is due to roadway and intersection improvements between the intersections of C-462 at U.S. 301 and CR 209.

Recommended Detours

  • If you travel eastbound on C-462 to U.S. 301, turn left onto CR 209 from C-462, then turn right to CR 216 that will connect with U.S. 301.
  • If you travel westbound on C-462 from U.S. 301, take U.S. 301 to CR 216, then turn to CR 209, then turn right to C-462.

The county says the detours shouldn’t add more than a few minutes to someone’s travel in the area. But a few minutes can be the difference between being late and on-time. So, plan accordingly.

The county urges drivers to use caution when traveling these affected roads and be alert for construction workers.

What’s the difference between a “C” and a “CR” road? A county spokesperson says, “C roads are considered ‘major’ roads.”
