MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A semi trailer caught fire on the right shoulder of northbound I-75 at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The trailer reportedly began smoking at around mile marker 343, just north of State Road 484, causing the driver to pull to the shoulder, where the truck became engulfed in flames. The driver was able to exit the vehicle safely without sustaining serious injury, but authorities closed all northbound lanes out of an abundance of caution.

The FHP reports that the left and center lanes are open, but traffic is still extremely congested. Motorists are advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
